Committed – Jack Kimber!

Congratulations to Jack Kimber who recently signed his scholarship deal to Southeastern Community College. Jack took some time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions on his thoughts and ambitions on life in America.

Can you tell us a bit about your academic and sporting background and why you decided on heading to the USA on a scholarship?

I’ve always wanted to be a professional footballer but if that doesn’t work out I want to be either a Football coach, Professional referee or a Personal trainer. To go to the US will be a great opportunity to fulfil both of my ambitions and to do it in a beautiful country such as America seems like a dream come true.

Why did you decide to choose your scholarship deal over the other offers?

I chose Southeastern Community College over my other offers because the coach (Zachary Newton) a was very eager to sign me, was quick to respond to my emails and was very clear on his ambitions for the Black Hawks on the next coming fall. I also chose this over the others because it’s very exciting to be part of a brand new soccer program with very good facilities.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about signing up?

I would say go for it, you only live once and to play football while studying in a country like America will most definitely be the greatest time of your life and will be looked back on as a great achievement. If you perform well it will also look great on your Football CV for any English clubs to look at when you come back.

What are you looking forward to most about going to America?

I am most definitely looking forward to the football, visiting living upon the amazing scenery in the US and meeting new people.

What are your plans now in terms of getting ready for America?

The main plan now is to stay fit, keep playing football and to have a great time with friends and family before leaving them.

How do you think you’ll handle being a full-time student-athlete?

The first couple of weeks are always going to be a bit strange away from home, but I know I will be able to make new friends and settle down quite easily.

Do you have any goals and ambitions for America?

My main aim is to become a pro/semi-professional footballer and to get a good degree in a course I’m good at and enjoy.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years… I see myself playing football as a part-time job or hopefully a full-time job and being a football coach.
